Office Specialist Part-Time

Horizon Project is a nonprofit that provides support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Office Specialist acts as a front desk receptionist and performs various office duties such as answering phones, receiving and distributing mail, assisting in client banking services, receiving walk-in job applications, and processing client medical appointment paperwork.

Wage: $16.25/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm (25hrs per week)

Essential Responsibilities and Duties include:

• Answer phones and direct calls, taking messages when appropriate
• Greet and provide assistance to job applicants, customers, or other visitors
• Pick up and distribute mail daily
• Send and receive faxes
• Assist with inventory
• Follow financial procedures in assisting the Financial Department in daily tasks
• Provide clerical support for Residential or Employment Supervisors
• Keep front office area neat and orderly
• Help schedule meetings in the conference room
• Maintain reservations for using the Admin Car
• Work independently without direct supervision
• Handle interoffice mail – sending, receiving, and distributing
• Adhere to confidentiality standards
• Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting guidelines

Physical Demands

Some lifting, up to 40lbs may be required.

Work Environment

This is primarily an office job; however, it will involve interaction with intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals which can result in physical contact and/or verbal exchanges.

Requirements

• Must have High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two years customer service or office assistant experience, or combination of both.
• Must be proficient in working with Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Must successfully complete organized in-service training that is provided by the employer, as well as on-the-job training as assigned.
• Must pass a criminal background check and a drug test

Wage: $16.25/hour
