Painter - Entry Level & Semi-Skilled

Job Responsibilities Preserve the hull and components by sealing submarines with chemicals and paints that prevent corrosion and protect against the accumulation of marine life. Prepare surfaces, mix and apply a variety of paints and finishes, including baked‑on plastics, vinyl, and epoxy paints. Measure and document paint thickness to maintain a high level of quality. Sandblast, use pneumatic tools, roll, brush, and spray paint as required. Perform strenuous tasks for long durations. Work in confined spaces and elevated areas. Obtain and maintain respiratory qualifications. Travel to support off‑site work, if necessary. Work all shifts. Available for all shifts. Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program, if applicable. Preferred Knowledge of hazardous material and environmental policies. 6 months of painting experience. Vocational or Technical school background with a manufacturing or trades focus; apprenticeship, military, shipbuilding, manufacturing, or automotive experience.
