Assistant Controller, Corporate Accounting (Boston, MA)

A leading real estate investment and management firm with a multi-billion dollar, multi-asset platform is hiring an Assistant Controller to join its corporate accounting team. This role supports financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations across multiple Registered Investment Adviser entities and international corporate entities, reporting directly to the VP of Fund and Corporate Controller. What You'll Do Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, footnote disclosures, and supporting schedules for multiple investment management and corporate entities Coordinate and oversee annual audit activities with external auditors from planning through resolution Prepare quarterly and ad hoc budget-to-actual reporting for senior management Partner with senior leadership across corporate departments on budgeting and reforecasting Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close across multiple entities, including general ledger reconciliations and allocation of income, expenses, and payroll Ensure accounting and fee/expense allocation methodologies are consistently applied and properly documented Research technical accounting matters and prepare supporting analysis Coordinate with FP&A, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, and HR on cross-functional reporting and audit needs Mentor and manage a team including a Senior Corporate Accountant and external/offshore accounting resources Partner on process improvement, automation, and technology initiatives within the corporate accounting function What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field 5-9 years of accounting, fund accounting, real estate accounting, or financial reporting experience Experience with financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and multi-entity accounting Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills across internal and external stakeholders Preferred Public accounting background and/or active CPA license Experience with investment adviser entities, budgeting/forecasting, or fee and expense allocations Experience with Yardi, Workiva, Workday Adaptive, or similar systems Prior experience supervising or reviewing accounting staff Experience managing or coordinating external/offshore accounting resources The Environment This is a corporate role within a large, established real estate investment platform, based in-office on a hybrid schedule.
