Coordinator Position at Carl A. Fields Center
The Carl A. Fields Center is Princeton University's unique cultural center. At the Fields Center, diverse perspectives and experiences of race, class, gender and their intersections are supported and challenged, questioned and answered. Under the direction of the director, the coordinator provides extensive programming, outreach, and education on campus; assists students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members who use the Center; assists in advising student organizations; supervises student employees and volunteers; assists with daily operations of the Center; makes referrals; and helps maintain the Center's 24,000 square foot facility with distinct programming spaces.

Responsibilities
Programming
- Design, coordinate, and deliver educational, cultural and social workshops and events which focus on diversity, inclusion and social justice programming
- Develop publicity and program materials
- Help to evaluate programs, assisting the director in conducting programmatic need assessments and strategic planning
- Work collaboratively with the Director to develop the annual programming objectives
- Work with colleagues across campus and community partners on joint programmatic initiatives
- Create a printed and online calendar each semester
- Oversee academic, social, and cultural programs and services that promote the success of students of color and other under-represented populations on campus
- Develop diversity, inclusion and social justice workshops including learning outcomes and assessment components
- Manage an annual budget and monitor budget expenditures
Orientation and Graduation Celebrations
- Design, coordinate, and deliver campus-wide celebratory events including, Pan-African, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American, Latine, Native and Indigenous, and MENAA graduation celebrations.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of orientation and welcome back events
Leadership Development and Support
- Oversee and coordinate the Princeton University Peer Mentoring Program (PUMP)
- Design and implement a curriculum and development plan for PUMP
- Produce regular reports, statistics, and assessment data related to PUMP to make data informed decisions
- Assist in all aspects of leadership development programs such as the Cultural Leaders' Summits
- Development and execution of training and workshops related to diversity and social justice education
- Assist with developing assessment measures for trainings and workshops
- Assist with development and structure of the Wellness Wednesdays programming
- Assist graduate and undergraduate student leaders with event planning and program development
- Support recognized cultural student organizations in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate students through funding and advising needs
Administrative & Office Oversight
- Serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and faculty hosting programs and services at the Center
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for those who come to the Center, advising people on resources, assisting visitors and answering phones, and maintaining office social media and online presence
- Assist in the management of the facility
- Oversee the space reservation process, maintenance requests, and troubleshooting around facilities issues
- Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and complete all paperwork promptly for all programs assigned and ensures proper maintenance of records
- Work in close collaboration with the director to develop the Center's budget and be responsible for providing periodic budget reports and ensuring that expenses are monitored and remain on track
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the University financial systems (Prime and Concur) and participating in periodic training updates
- Supervise student employees by training them in office policies and procedures, task delegation, and project oversight
- Participate in and support general campus initiatives and departmental, divisional, and institutional goal setting, committees, and special projects
- Additional duties as assigned
Outreach & Resource Development
- Support and advise the university community, student groups seeking to collaborate with the Center
- Assists with outreach to further the Carl Fields Center mission and vision
- Maintain outreach to students via social media community engagement, etc.
- Manage the oversight of the development and updating of the office website and other online resources
- Oversee resource development for programs, training and general use, and production of office publications
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree with at least 2-3 years of related experience
• Ability to consistently work some evenings and weekends for programming above and beyond regular business hours
• Knowledge of diversity and inclusion within the context of higher education
• Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and social justice
• Knowledge of student development and frameworks
• Ability to create and manage mentorship programs for students of underrepresented identities
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, awareness, and sensitivity
• Strong group facilitation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multicultural, social justice-oriented community comprised of individuals and groups with a wide array of backgrounds, identities, life experiences and communication styles
• Demonstrated knowledge of and worked experience with policies and programs relating to equity, access, diversity, and inclusion
• Prior experience with program development, management, and evaluation, especially on social justice programs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
• Ability to recognize and protect confidential information and exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information and situations
• Ability to take the initiative and work independently with good judgment
• Ability to work as a contributing member in a team-oriented environment. Including being part of an office unit as well as collaborating with colleagues and partners outside of the university
• Strong fiscal management experience
• Organizational ability to manage the daily operations of a large-scale, high-use programming center
• Ability to utilize current technology to create and enhance the Center's presence on the web and social media sites
• Must be proficient in word processing and spreadsheets, internet and email, and the web and graphic design software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or other related field
• Experience working with college students in a university setting
• Professional experience working with multicultural and social justice education, particularly in the areas of race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, religion, sexuality, and gender
• Experience with creative educational program development, including program planning, implementation, and assessment
• Experience giving presentations and conducting training programs
• Experience with facilities management
• Knowledge and or experience with online reservation systems such as Resource 25
• Experience providing logistical and technical assistance with programs and events
• Ability to concentrate in an open workspace in a busy office environment, pay close attention to detail and prioritize tasks under intermittent interruption
• Ability to juggle many different projects simultaneously, with consistent accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness
