Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Med Surg and Step Down/PCU experience required. License: Valid state license required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Must be comfortable floating frequently between Step Down and Med Surg/Tele units. - Must have experience with patient ratios of 1:4-5 in Step Down and 1:5-6 in Med Surg. - Must be willing to work weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as needed. - Must already be licensed in the state. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Step Down role. The nurse will frequently float to Med Surg and MS/Tele units. Candidates must be comfortable working in both environments. Patient ratios are 1:4-5 for Step Down and 1:5-6 for Med Surg. Floating between units occurs regularly. Travelers must have two years of nursing experience and be able to adapt to multiple unit needs. Experience in managing medical and orthopedic patients is essential. Familiarity with Meditech charting system is preferred. Candidates will engage in various nursing responsibilities, including administering medications, managing IVs, and providing post-operative care. The unit includes a mix of surgical and orthopedic cases, with some medical overflow. Interdisciplinary team support will be available. Nurses are expected to handle diverse patient diagnoses, which primarily include surgical and orthopedic conditions. Responsibilities may involve care tasks such as wound management, telemetry monitoring, and administering blood products. Candidates must comply with all facility policies, including requirements for holiday and weekend coverage. This role offers opportunities for extension beyond the initial contract duration based on performance and facility needs.
