Systems Engineer II

Salary: $115,000 - 120,000 per year Requirements:

• We require U.S. citizenship.
• We require an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or an equivalent mix of education, technical training, and relevant experience aligned with contractual labor-category requirements.
• We require demonstrated experience administering and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, or Microsoft enterprise technologies.
• We require hands-on experience supporting production Microsoft cloud environments.
• We require experience performing systems administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and incident resolution.
• We require experience working with enterprise change, incident, problem, and service-request processes.
• We require the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently and determine when escalation to senior engineering staff is appropriate.
• We require hands-on experience with several of the following: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Entra ID, security tools, cloud operations, and PowerShell or other approved automation tools.
• We prefer relevant Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, security, or identity certifications.
• We prefer experience with Azure Monitor, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Entra ID, and related Microsoft administration portals.
• We prefer experience supporting hybrid Microsoft environments.
• We prefer experience with PowerShell automation.
• We prefer familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
• We prefer familiarity with Federal cybersecurity and configuration-management requirements.
• We require a bachelors degree as preferred education.
• We require 5 years of Microsoft 365 experience as preferred.
• We require 3 years of Microsoft Defender experience as preferred.
• We require 5 years of systems engineering experience.
• We require 4 years of Azure experience as preferred.
• We require 4 years of PowerShell experience.
• We require CompTIA Security+ certification.
• We require Secret security clearance.

• We perform daily administration, operations, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise cloud services and supporting technologies.
• We administer and support Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services in accordance with Government policies, procedures, configuration standards, and security requirements.
• We track cloud service health, availability, capacity, performance, events, and alerts, and take corrective or escalation actions as needed.
• We respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, operational alerts, and technical issues within established service-level targets.
• We troubleshoot issues and perform diagnostic analysis to identify root causes of service degradation, configuration problems, connectivity issues, and cloud failures.
• We support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, as applicable.
• We support Microsoft Entra ID and related identity and access services, including user and group administration, access assignments, permissions, authentication, and other authorized identity-management tasks.
• We provision, configure, modify, and decommission cloud resources, accounts, services, and related settings under approved procedures.
• We execute approved cloud configuration changes, maintenance tasks, patches, updates, upgrades, and service modifications.
• We support cloud security operations, including security configuration, vulnerability remediation, endpoint and cloud protection services, identity controls, and required security changes.
• We monitor and respond to cloud security events and coordinate escalation of significant findings to the Cloud Lead/SME and appropriate cybersecurity personnel.
• We perform routine operational checks and preventive maintenance on daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic schedules.
• We support cloud backup, recovery, resiliency, continuity, and disaster recovery activities, including operational verification and testing as assigned.
• We assist with capacity management, performance tuning, resource utilization analysis, and identification of potential service constraints.
• We participate in cloud migrations, service deployments, upgrades, modernization efforts, and other technical projects.
• We support automation of repetitive cloud administration and operational processes using approved scripting and automation technologies.
• We participate in incident, problem, configuration, change, and release management processes.
• We coordinate technical activities with Government personnel and other infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, network, service desk, and vendor support teams.
• We maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, operating procedures, implementation records, knowledge articles, and other required operational materials.
• We support configuration management and help ensure cloud infrastructure and service configuration data remains accurate.
• We assist in developing technical procedures and knowledge content for transfer to the Training Specialist for user-facing training, adoption, and self-service resources.
• We identify recurring incidents, operational inefficiencies, manual processes, and opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
• We escalate complex technical problems, architectural issues, major service disruptions, and high-risk changes to the System Engineer – Level III / Cloud Lead-SME.
