Job Description

Principle Function:
The Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life.

Responsibilities:
1.     Plan and conduct the worship services, prepare and deliver sermons, and lead in observation of ordinances.
2.     Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.
3.     Visit church members, church prospects, and those who are in hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins and jail.
4.     Conduct counseling sessions, perform wedding ceremonies, and conduct funerals if requested or as deemed appropriate by the Pastor.
5.     Serve as Chairman of the Church Council to lead quarterly meetings in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the total program of the church.
6.     Work with the deacons, church officers and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities.
7.     Train and lead the deacons in a program of family ministries.
8.     Act as Moderator of church Business Meetings.
9.     Cooperate with associational, state and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern. Keep the church informed of denominational development and represent the church in civic matters.
10.   Serve as Chief Administrator of the paid church staff and supervise the work assigned paid staff workers.
11.  Maintain regularly scheduled office hours at the church to provide adequate access to the church members, unless otherwise involved in other pastoral duties and provide daily activity log of duties.
12.  Be on call for ordinary pastoral services at all times, except during vacation periods or on days off.
13.   Be available for crisis ministry at all times except during periods of illness or otherwise unpreventable incapacity.
14.  Keep the church Secretary knowledgeable of work location at all times.
