Emergency Veterinary Technician (Swing Shift) – Veterinary Specialty Center Tucson PetVet Care Centers’ Veterinary Specialty Center Tucson is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join their team. Position Overview As a Veterinary Technician, you will support hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, handling feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharge, and maintaining patient medical records. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, interviews, reviewing care plans, and completing laboratory and imaging studies. Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds. Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and restraining them as directed by the veterinarian. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment usage to provide excellent care. Obtain and verify medications and ensure correct drug administration. Maintain a clean and safe environment, sterilizing instruments, disinfecting holding and operating areas, and storing supplies properly. Document and update medical records accurately and promptly. Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain equipment and inventory, troubleshoot breakdowns, and order supplies. Participate in continuing education and professional journals to update job knowledge. Release pets to owners ensuring they are clean and groomed. Carry out oral and written directions and perform duties assigned by management. Qualifications (Required) Minimum 1 year of emergency experience. Able to properly hold dogs and cats, including fractious patients. Skilled at administering IM, SQ, and IV injections. Competent at obtaining patient history and vital signs on critical and non‑critical patients. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Anesthesia training – monitoring and administering anesthesia. Schedule Full time, swing shift: Monday 7:00 AM–7:00 PM; Thursday and Friday 1:00 PM–1:00 AM.
