Communications Senior Consultant, Controllership

Position Summary Our Deloitte Finance Transformation team practices to help chief financial officers, controllers, and finance teams define and execute their finance and global business services agendas and strategies. You will work with leading-class teams and solutions, helping clients navigate challenging environments, market uncertainty, technology development, and regulatory considerations to unlock value. Your work may span strategy, operations, process design, and technology as we partner with clients to transform finance. Work You’ll Do As a Senior Consultant, Controllership on the Controllership and Treasury Transformation team, you will be responsible for: Analyze financial transactions and supporting documentation to determine appropriate proprietary and budgetary accounting treatment and general ledger impactPrepare, validate, and post journal entries and reconciliations to support quarter-end and year-end close activitiesSupport governmental financial reporting in alignment with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-136 and internal reporting requirementsExecute controls and documentation activities in alignment with OMB Circular A-123 and established standard operating proceduresFollow standard operating procedures and accounting policies to produce complete, accurate, timely, and audit-ready workpapersCollaborate with stakeholders to resolve accounting variances, address data issues, and improve close and reporting processes A successful candidate would possess these skills: Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a teamEffective written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail and quality of work productAbility to build and sustain professional relationshipsAbility to lead projects or workstreamsAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong interpersonal skills and professional demeanorAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to provide clear guidance to others The Team Deloitte’s Government & Public Services (GPS) practice – our people, ideas, technology and outcomes – is designed for impact. The Project Delivery Talent Model is designed for professionals with specialized skills that align to a current client need. Team members focus on delivering services to clients, without additional expectations related to business development or promotion. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree Active Secret clearance required4+ years experience experience performing quarterly financial statement reconciliations and analyzing trends and anomalies in the defense space4+ years experience preparing, validating, and posting journal entries and reconciliations in support of quarter-end and year-end close activities4+ years experience producing audit-ready workpapers in accordance with standard operating procedures and accounting policiesAbility to work onsite 50% of the time in Arlington, VirginiaMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Preferred: Experience collaborating with federal agencies to address financial remediation initiativesExperience briefing client leadership on project deliverables and high-priority tasksExperience resolving accounting variances and data issuesExperience supporting proprietary and budgetary accounting treatmentExperience improving close and reporting processes The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,700 to $162,800.You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
