RN - Oncology

Oncology Registered NurseOncology RN position available in a specialized medical unit. The unit focuses on palliative care and oncology. Candidates must have inpatient medical experience. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Holiday requests must be pre-approved. Requests for time off during Christmas will not be approved. The ideal candidate should have experience with chemotherapy administration. Knowledge of blood transfusions and basic life support is required. Experience with neutropenic precautions and IV management is essential. The patient population includes individuals with conditions such as COPD, diabetes, cellulitis, pancreatitis, sickle cell disease, and oncology needs. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy support. The daily census on the unit is approximately 29 patients. The unit has 32 beds. Travelers may float to various medical/surgical units and possibly to emergency departments as needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. All required certifications should be obtained prior to starting the position. Pre-start modules are expected to be completed within one week of signing.
