We are currently seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team! As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for performing administrative work in support of SIF’s accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by compiling amounts owed by the company to vendors or other individuals, or owed to the company by customers or clients, and inputting figures into the accounting system. We’ll be looking for YOU to: Receive and distribute invoices, verifying accuracy and compliance with organizational policies, as well as Federal and State Laws. Reconcile amounts received or owed by comparing invoices to POs or other records. Enter invoice amounts into the accounting system and process invoices or payments in an accurate and timely manner. Respond to inquiries from customers or clients and research and resolve concerns or discrepancies. Track company credit card charges and reconcile statements on a monthly basis. Monitor employee travel advances, accounts payable, and receivables to ensure that payments are up to date. Educate employees on accounting policies and procedures related to expenses, travel, etc. Your background should include: High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years’ experience of related work in bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable and/or receivable Experience in using Microsoft Office products.Prior experience with Insurance Accounting Suite (IAS) or other insurance accounting general ledger systems preferred. Infor (Luma) Accounting experience, a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience developing business correspondence and providing exceptional customer service to resolve concerns. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels within the organization and as well as with external customers. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill. Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as cohesively within a team. Ability to explain and apply policies and procedures. What you can expect!
