The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center is designed to serve individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. It offers a range of urgent care services, including therapy, medication management, suicide prevention, and crisis intervention. Day To Day As A Psychiatric Technician

As a Psychiatric Technician at our BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, you will play a key role in providing direct care and supervision for individuals living with serious mental health challenges and co-occurring substance use disorders. Your duties will include monitoring and documenting client progress in an intensive, short-term residential setting, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver effective treatment and case coordination. You will lead both individual and group development training focused on independent living skills and leisure activities, supporting clients' personal growth and overall wellness.

In addition, you will assist with essential household services that are crucial for client care and the maintenance of the facility. What We're Looking For In A Psychiatric Technician

To excel as a Psychiatric Technician at our BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, candidates should possess a robust skill set tailored for direct care roles. Candidates must have a solid understanding of serious mental health disorders, alongside the principles and practices of care tailored to these individuals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for building rapport with clients and their families.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following:

• One (1) year direct care experience working with adults with serious mental illness.
• CNA preferred.
• Valid Virginia State Driver's License.

Additionally, demonstrated experience in managing adults living with behavioral health issues and substance use or co-occurring disorders will significantly enhance your ability to provide empathetic and effective support.
