Staff Auditor - Public Accounting - Hybrid - $65-90k - Downingtown, Pa

Our client, a well known public accounting firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Auditor to join our growing assurance practice. In this role, you will work closely with engagement teams to perform financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for a diverse portfolio of clients. This position offers an excellent foundation in public accounting, hands-on mentorship from senior leadership, and a clear pathway toward obtaining your CPA license and advancing within the firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures on low-to-medium risk financial statement accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and operating expenses.

• Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit workpapers that document the procedures performed and conclusions reached in compliance with GAAP and GAAS.

• Assist team members in evaluating, documenting, and testing client internal controls and business processes.

• Obtain and organize client financial data, trial balances, and supporting schedules, ensuring all outstanding items are tracked and resolved.

• Communicate professionally with client accounting personnel to gather information and address routine inquiries.

• Identify and document accounting or auditing issues encountered during field work and escalate them appropriately to the engagement Senior or Manager.

• Participate in year-end client inventory observations and physical counts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.

• CPA Eligibility: Must meet the credit requirements to sit for the CPA exam, or be actively working toward licensure.

• Experience: Prior experience in public accounting is required.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with strong working knowledge of Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, data formatting).

• Solid foundational understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and financial reporting standards.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction.

• Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines and balance multiple client tasks simultaneously.
