Kitchen Associate
TEMPO Employment Services is seeking an experienced Kitchen Associate to join the team at a busy local restaurant in Presque Isle. This is an Opportunity-to-Hire position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and has previous professional cooking experience. The Kitchen Associate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, assisting with food prep, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, and supporting the overall flow of restaurant operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and procedures
- Assist with food preparation, including preparing ingredients for service
- Cook food safely and consistently during busy meal periods
- Monitor food quality, portioning, and presentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and food safety procedures
- Assist with stocking and rotating food and kitchen supplies
- Communicate and work cooperatively with kitchen and restaurant staff
- Complete cleaning, opening, and closing duties as assigned
- Follow all workplace safety and sanitation requirements
- Perform other kitchen duties as needed to support daily restaurant operations
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience cooking in a professional kitchen required
- ServSafe training/certification preferred and qualifies for the higher starting pay rate
- Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced restaurant environment
- Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work both daytime and evening shifts is helpful
- Ability to stand for extended periods and meet the physical demands of kitchen work
- No visa sponsorship is available for this position
- This position requires completion of a pre-employment background check.
