Position Summary

Ditzfeld Container is seeking dependable, safety-minded Class B CDL Drivers to operate Packer and Roll-Off trucks on daily routes. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of waste and recyclable materials while providing professional service to customers.

The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and comfortable operating different types of equipment. Drivers should be prepared to work independently, follow assigned routes, and maintain a strong commitment to safety and DOT compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate Packer and Roll-Off trucks on assigned daily routes.
• Complete residential, commercial, and/or industrial collection routes as assigned.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT requirements.
• Safely load, transport, and unload waste and recyclable materials.
• Operate hydraulic, mechanical, and other truck-mounted equipment as required.
• Secure loads and ensure materials are transported safely and legally.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules while maintaining efficient route completion.
• Complete required driver logs, vehicle inspection reports, route documentation, and other paperwork accurately.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Report vehicle maintenance issues, safety concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle and report equipment needs to management.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service while on route.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, customers, and other employees.
• Maintain flexibility to operate different vehicles and equipment based on daily operational needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL required.
• Must meet all applicable DOT requirements.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate heavy trucks and related equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily routes efficiently.
• Willingness and ability to operate different types of vehicles as needed.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
• Previous experience in waste management, commercial driving, or operating heavy equipment is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently enter and exit the truck throughout the workday.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb as required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with waste collection and truck operation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely perform job duties while wearing required personal protective equipment.

Work Schedule

• Primarily Monday–Friday, daily routes.
• Schedule and route assignments may vary based on operational needs.
• Flexibility to operate Packer, Roll-Off, and other company vehicles is required.
• Overtime, occasional weekend work, or schedule changes may be required based on business needs.

Safety & Compliance

All drivers are expected to maintain compliance with applicable DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, company safety policies, and vehicle-specific operating procedures . Safety is a fundamental responsibility of this position.
