POSITION SUMMARY

The Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of Hideaway Golf Club's culinary operations by properly cleaning and sanitizing dishes, cookware, utensils, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas. This position plays an essential role in supporting efficient kitchen operations by ensuring Culinary Team Members have clean, sanitized equipment, cookware, utensils, and supplies necessary to efficiently support daily culinary operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences for Members and Guests.

Working under the direction of the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Banquet Chef, Sous Chef, or Lead Line Cook, the Steward/Dishwasher assists with dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, waste removal, equipment cleaning, and general kitchen organization while contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

The Steward/Dishwasher demonstrates professionalism, dependability, teamwork, and attention to detail while supporting Hideaway Golf Club's commitment to exceptional food safety, cleanliness, and hospitality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen Operations

• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Wash, rinse, sanitize, dry, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain an adequate supply of clean dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment throughout each meal period.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen cleaning procedures.
• Support banquet functions, tournaments, and special events as assigned.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions or operational concerns to Culinary Leadership.

Sanitation & Cleanliness

• Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, floors, walls, sinks, drains, storage areas, and food preparation equipment.
• Remove trash, recycling, and food waste while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
• Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and surrounding work areas.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.
• Ensure cleaning chemicals are properly used, labeled, and stored.

Teamwork & Support

• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and accountability throughout each shift.
• Support Culinary Team Members by providing clean equipment and maintaining organized work areas.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks as assigned.
• Reinforce Club standards for sanitation, safety, and kitchen organization.
• Communicate effectively with fellow Team Members to support efficient kitchen operations.

Inventory & Organization

• Organize clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and equipment in designated storage areas.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies as assigned.
• Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify Culinary Leadership of shortages.
• Maintain organized storage and dishwashing areas.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all federal, state, and local health regulations, sanitation requirements, food safety protocols, HACCP standards, and Club policies.
• Properly operate and maintain dishwashing equipment and cleaning tools.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout each shift.
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or maintenance needs promptly.

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with Culinary Leadership and Team Members.
• Support efficient culinary operations by maintaining clean equipment, organized work areas, and timely dishwashing services.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience

• Previous dishwashing, stewarding, janitorial, or food service experience preferred.
• Experience in a private club, luxury resort, hotel, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment preferred.

Education & Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current Riverside County Food Handler Card.

Technical Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of sanitation procedures, kitchen safety, and food handling practices.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and cleaning procedures preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to wash, rinse, sanitize, dry, and store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Stand and walk continuously throughout commercial kitchens while cleaning, organizing, and supporting culinary operations.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull racks of dishes, cookware, kitchen equipment, trash, recycling, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently bend, reach, kneel, stoop, twist, and perform repetitive hand movements while cleaning and organizing kitchen equipment.
• Work safely around hot water, steam, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, commercial dishwashing equipment, and sharp utensils.
• Read cleaning schedules, safety instructions, labels, and operational documents.
• Communicate continuously with Culinary Leadership and Team Members to support efficient kitchen operations.

Work Environment

This job operates throughout Hideaway Golf Club's culinary operations, including The Key, the main kitchen, banquet production areas, employee dining facilities, storage areas, dishwashing stations, and other culinary workspaces. The Steward/Dishwasher regularly works around commercial dishwashing equipment, cleaning chemicals, hot water, steam, wet floors, sharp utensils, and varying temperatures while supporting daily culinary operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
