Respiratory Therapist NICU

Medical City Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and detail‑oriented Respiratory Therapist to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will deliver specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill newborns, collaborating closely with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. You will assess and manage neonatal respiratory status, initiate and adjust ventilator and non‑invasive support, administer medications and therapeutic interventions, and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and respiratory emergencies. As a NICU Respiratory Therapist, you will perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial and capillary blood gases and pulmonary function assessments as appropriate for neonates, and you will ensure accurate documentation of all treatments, assessments, and patient responses in the medical record. You will help develop and follow individualized respiratory care plans, participate in daily bedside rounds, and contribute your expertise to clinical decision‑making in a high‑acuity environment. You will also set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced respiratory equipment, ensuring that all devices are used safely and according to hospital protocols and regulatory standards. Education is central to this role: you will support and educate families about respiratory treatments, equipment, and home‑care considerations when appropriate, using clear, empathetic communication during a challenging time. You will also mentor junior staff and students, sharing best practices in neonatal respiratory therapy and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
