About the Facility – Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System The Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System (ECHCS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans across a wide region, including Aurora, Denver, Lakewood, Golden, La Junta, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Pueblo, Salida, Lamar, and Burlington. ECHCS offers a range of medical services such as primary care, specialty care, mental health services, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Veterans can access advanced diagnostic services, dental care, pharmacy services, and telehealth options, ensuring high-quality, accessible healthcare tailored to their needs. The system is dedicated to delivering compassionate and professional care to enhance the health and well-being of veterans in these communities.

Responsibilities

• The RN Med/Surg provides both direct and indirect nursing care, utilizing independent judgment, nursing actions, flexibility, organizational skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Shall be proficient in telemetry, showcasing a comprehensive skill set.
• Shall provide direct, continuous, and comprehensive patient care in alignment with facility policies.
• Shall perform nursing functions related to physician-prescribed treatments, ensure the delivery of effective and targeted care.
• The RN Med/Surg plays a vital role in surgical procedures, contributing to the overall success of interventions.
• Shall assist patients with activities of daily living, supportive and caring environment.
• Shall operate as a circulating nurse, facilitate coordination during medical procedures to enhance patient outcomes.
• The RN Med/Surg administers medications and IV therapies in compliance with local facility policies, the RN ensures the safe and accurate delivery of prescribed treatments.
• Shall document plans of care and care provided in the patient's medical record, maintain accurate and detailed records.
• The RN Med/Surg recognizes and initiates appropriate measures in emergencies and assisting with surgical/diagnostic procedures, demonstrates quick thinking and adaptability to dynamic situations.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision -OR- Possess of a bachelor's degree in nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience-OR- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing.
• Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Must have a minimum of 24 months experience in a Med/Surg or PACU environment during the last 36 months.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) are mandatory for all specialties.
