Position Overview

A community-based acute care hospital in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for their Emergency Department. This role involves providing critical care in a fast-paced environment, with the option for day, evening, or night shifts.

Shift Details

  • Mid 3x12-Hour (15:00 - 03:00)
  • Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
  • 7p-7a or 3p-3a ER RN every other weekend and holiday
  • No block scheduling
Assignment Length

13 weeks (with potential for extension)

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform rapid assessment and triage of emergency patients.
  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care across various emergencies including medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, and trauma cases.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions as per physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to any changes in clinical status.
  • Assist with emergency procedures including:


    • Cardiac emergencies
    • Stroke response
    • Sepsis management
    • Trauma stabilization
    • Respiratory emergencies
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary staff.
  • Document all patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Active Pennsylvania RN License (or Compact License if applicable).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale.
  • TNCC and CPI or de-escalation training preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in a community hospital Emergency Department.
  • Strong IV and critical assessment skills.
  • Experience caring for pediatric and adult emergency patients.
  • Previous travel nursing experience is a plus but not required.
