Radiologic Technologist – FPC-Alderson Work Location: Bureau of Prisons, Federal Prison Center-Alderson, Health Services Department, 1 Glen Ray Road, Alderson, West Virginia, 24910. Citizenship Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance Requirement: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen. Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Period of Performance: Estimated start date 15 July 2026 – 30 April 2031. Estimated Pay: $30.73 – $35.82 per hour. Paid Time Off: Up to 80 hours per year, accruing on the day of hire. Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, starting on the day of hire. Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) paid federal holidays. Working Hours The Radiologic Technologist will normally work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break, except on Federal holidays. Radiology Technologists will not work more than 40 hours per week. Qualifications Must have an unrestricted state license to practice in West Virginia as a Radiologic Technologist. Graduate from an accredited school or program for Radiologic Technologists. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Minimum of three (3) years of Radiologic Technologist experience. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified by the American Red Cross (ARC) or the American Heart Association (AHA). Attire must also be appropriate for the correctional environment. Khaki or green clothing is prohibited. Duties and Responsibilities Operate current digital radiological equipment. Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by medical staff for the inmate population. Provide routine radiology and mammography services to Adults in Custody (AIC) as referred by BOP Health Services staff. Maintain radiology and mammography equipment through required services performed by contracting services. Independently perform all radiographic and mammographic procedures (chest, bone, skull, spine, knee, back, etc.). Notify the radiologist or referring physician of any preliminary abnormalities observed during an exam so that further views or exams can be ordered. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of medical information in the radiology department and regarding AIC and staff conditions. Provide assistance with medical staff duties, such as scanning of medical records, maintaining radiology badges, monitoring sanitation in the health services area, and assisting in improving the Organization Plan. Explain appropriate instructions to AIC undergoing radiology procedures. Maintain mammography accreditation and related standards. Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs, informing the HSA if repairs or calibrations are needed. Ensure inspections for defects are performed twice per year for gloves, aprons, and shields, with signatures from the clinical director and the HSA. Transmit, retrieve X‑ray images and reports electronically, and scan reports into the Adults in Custody Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam. Compensation and Benefits Competitive compensation package.
