Job Title: Staff Systems Engineer Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI with Polygraph Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Local Anticipated Posting End: 7/3/2026 The Opportunity This position is for a Staff Systems Engineer. You will be working closely with a talented team to deliver a complex software application into operations. The position will primarily support the operations for a software system. Responsibilities Provide technical direction and requirement transparency across development teams Perform requirements management including requirements creation, tracking, flow down, coverage, verification tracking, compliance matrices, etc. Develop test procedures to formally verify system requirements for sell‑off events Decompose system requirements and collaborate with multi‑disciplined, distributed teams to generate efficient and scalable solutions Support development, implementation, and verification of mission capabilities Participate in development and execution of program milestones events such as customer meetings, internal and formal government testing events, and discrepancy report review boards Conduct testing events of software solutions and generate test result documentation Support operations of software with tasks such as enterprise test events and user integration and onboarding Qualifications Required: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, IT, or a related engineering field At least 5 years of professional experience in software development or systems engineering Effective cross‑organizational communicator capable of working well in a small, fast‑paced team Ability to develop requirements Ability to develop test procedures that verify requirements Ability to develop tracing between requirements, code, and verification Working knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology Current IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or CASP) Desired Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with virtual teams Familiarity with cloud architectures and deployment requirements for DoD Experience using automated tests to sell‑off formal requirement verification Experience with government site acceptance processes and procedures Experience working with software‑defined interfaces that use XML or JSON to both document and implement Experience with SATCOM or GEOINT systems Business acumen and ability to balance technical requirements with business needs Experience in the operational deployment of multi‑product baselines and functionality Experience with Cameo modeling tools Experience developing a software architecture using digital tools Experience with DOORS or DoR Next‑Gen Pay Range The Proposed Salary Range For This Position Is $82,100 – $172,400 Equal Opportunity Employment CAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
