$45.00–$75.00 per hour or daily rate, depending on experience

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team in Rockledge, FL, focusing on delivering outstanding preventive and periodontal care. Both full-time and part-time/PRN roles are available in our busy restorative and surgical practice.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, a gentle approach with patients, strong abilities in patient education, and meticulous documentation practices. You will collaborate closely with our doctors and assisting staff to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and experiences.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Hygiene Care

• Conduct prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance therapy.
• Perform comprehensive periodontal assessments, including charting pocket depths, recession, bleeding points, and mobility.
• Administer preventive treatments such as fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents.
• Carry out and document oral cancer screenings and head/neck examinations.
• Provide local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by Florida regulations and certification.

Assessment, Imaging & Documentation

• Capture and store digital radiographs (intraoral, panoramic) in compliance with Florida dental radiography standards.
• Take intraoral photographs and digital scans as necessary, linking them accurately to patient records.
• Review and update medical/dental histories, flagging any findings or concerns for the doctor.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation using practice-management software, such as Dentrix.

Patient Education & Experience

• Inform patients about oral hygiene, home care, periodontal health, and the connection between oral and overall health.
• Assist in communicating treatment plans and securing case acceptance in collaboration with the doctor.
• Establish trust and rapport to enhance patient retention and referrals.

Sterilization, Compliance & Operations

• Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and operatories in accordance with OSHA and CDC infection-control standards.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, Florida Board of Dentistry guidelines, and practice protocols.
• Monitor and replenish hygiene operatory supplies; work with the team to maintain an efficient schedule.

QualificationsRequired

• Active Florida Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
• Current Florida dental radiography certification to expose radiographs.
• Current BLS / CPR certification.
• Strong understanding of periodontal therapy, preventive care, and dental terminology.
• Proficiency in dental practice-management / EHR software and digital imaging.
• Excellent communication skills, chairside manner, and attention to detail.

Preferred

• Florida certification to administer local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide.
• Experience in periodontal maintenance and implant care.
• Familiarity with Dentrix and intraoral scanners.
• New graduates with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive, precise hand movements.
• Manual dexterity and close-vision acuity for detailed chairside tasks.
• Routine exposure to a clinical setting, including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and dental materials, with appropriate PPE.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
