Custodian - Penn Manor School District - Position Description Posting: 8/25/26 - 9/8/26 Report to: Director of Buildings & Grounds Location: Pequea Elementary Status: 260 Days Hourly Hours: 2nd Shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week Summary Provide a safe, orderly, sanitary environment, conducive to learning, for all students and faculty. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Maintain all school buildings, ensuring a clean and orderly condition by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming classroom, library, hallways, stairs, cafeteria, gymnasium, and office space. Assist with maintenance projects as needed; perform minor maintenance repairs and/or upkeep such as painting, replacing light bulbs, air conditioner filters and other related maintenance duties. Maintain personal access to the building; lock/unlock the building, as required; secure all building windows; perform building security check before the end of shift (night shift); and report to the Head Custodian any vandalism, safety and security hazards, and major repairs needed. Perform light assembly duties including classroom furniture and minor repairs. Maintain floors including stripping, waxing, and refinishing; shampoo rugs and carpets. Clean snow and debris from sidewalks and parking lots using a snow blower or snowplow. Deliver supplies, equipment, and books. Set-up equipment as required for each event; following the event return the building to school set-up to include moving gymnasium bleachers as required. Assist and oversee groups using the building as directed by the Building Principal. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Custodian or Head Custodian. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge and understanding of various cleaning chemicals is necessary Valid PA Driver's license and /or access to independent transportation Pre-employment requirements as designated by the PA School Code Physical Requirements and Sensory Abilities Ability to reach above and below the waist, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, and crawl Ability to stand, walk, or move throughout the workday (including standing up to 3 hours, walking up to 1 hour, or sitting up to 1 hour at a time) Ability to use fingers to pick, feel, and grasp objects, and use both hands for repetitive motion Ability to lift and/or carry supplies weighing up to 75 lbs Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 100 lbs occasionally Ability to work in fluctuating inside and outside environmental conditions, including: Extreme cold (32°F or less) and extreme heat (90°F or more) Exposure to physical hazards, including conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin Visual acuity and auditory acuity (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability or disabilities to perform the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.) #J-18808-Ljbffr Sylvania
