Position Description
Definition:
To perform diversified activities related to the maintenance of buildings. Plumbing, HVAC, repair and light construction/carpentry.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receives general supervision from Coordinator, Maintenance. Exercises no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Perform maintenance tasks in sanitation cleanup, monitor and patrol litter in parking decks and around campus facilities, setup (chairs, tables, equipment) and break down special events, window cleaning, replace damage/soil ceiling tiles, replace light bulbs, painting, assist landscaping dept as needed etc.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to achieve and maintain a strong customer service environment.
- Perform duties as assigned to Maintenance Technician I
- To use mature judgement in applying rules and regulations.
- To eliminate any situation which may be hazardous to students, employees, and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Important Functions:
- Lift and move heavy objects up to at least 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Frequently climb ladders and stairs.
- Bend, crouch and maneuver body in tight, cramped quarters.
- Move quickly from one campus location to another to perform maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
Experience and Training Guidelines:
Minimum Education/Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid NC driver's license with driving record that is within the parameters set by the college (if applicable, otherwise delete)
Minimum Experience:
- General knowledge in each of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, computer, and a variety of hand and power tools.

- Successful candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
