Certified Occupational Therapist AssistantThe Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant is responsible to the Department Director and supervising Occupational Therapist to provide treatment to the patient prescribed by the physician within the guidelines of the Occupational Therapy Practice Act and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position implements a plan of care to restore and enhance performance. Trains and educates patients, family members and/or others to ensure understanding of treatment plan and goals. Provides occupational therapy, including selection and use of adaptive equipment. Reports patient progress and collaborates with evaluating therapist to implement the therapy plan of care.Patient Records: Documents and submits patient reports, patient education and charges within the established timeframe.Coordination of Care Collaboration: Collaborates with patient and other healthcare personnel or outside agencies regarding coordination of care. Reports patient progress and collaborates with evaluating therapist to implement the therapy plan of care.Supervision: Supervises Rehab Techs.QualificationsRequired Associate's Degree Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant ProgramNone Occupational therapy experience Required1 year Occupational therapy experience PreferredOccupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - State Licensing BoardCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart AssociationNational Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (COTA) - The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart AssociationTravel is required.
