Radiation Therapist - Travel Job

Minimum Qualifications


• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology or accredited program.


• ARRT (T) certification required.


• Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate with the Texas Medical Board required.


• Maintain current BLS certification (AHA only).


• Basic computer skills and effective verbal and written communication.


• Ability to perform radiation therapy treatments and simulation with minimal supervision and to recognize when consultation with the radiation oncologist is required.


• Ability to perform treatment planning assistance including tumor localization and dosimetry.


• Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or treatment center environment. Students from an AMA-approved program will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications


• Experience with TrueBeam/Varian systems.


• Experience with ARIA and Vision RT.


• Experience with EPIC electronic health record.

Assignment Details

• Shift Hours: 0800-1630.
• Shift Days: Days (standard weekday schedule).
• Patient mix: Primarily outpatient with occasional inpatient patients; approximate daily volume may include 15-20 patients per machine and 2-3 simulations per day.

Impacting Patient Care


Maintain consistency with departmental policies regarding professionalism, confidentiality, attendance, and documentation. Prepare rooms and equipment for treatment, position and immobilize patients, verify treatment plans and dosages, observe radiation safety measures, report equipment issues, perform weekly chart checks on the opposite machine, and document treatments accurately. Assess patients and families for special needs and coordinate consultations as required.
