- MARRERO, Louisiana Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in Jefferson Parish Schools Job Details Job ID: 5265253 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jul 01, 2025 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Jul 1, 2025 Job Description Position Description The Food Services Area Manager is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the Food Services Cafeteria Managers and Technicians with the goal of ensuring that Food Services programs and personnel are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and policy. The position can require extend or on call work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational routine. Reports To Executive Director of Food Services Scope of Responsibility Monitors all aspects of Food Services programs at the school site level, assuring compliance to all relevant regulations and policies. Supervises the cafeteria managers’ activities, providing technical support as needed and monitoring required record keeping including production records, inventory, food cost, HACCP compliance, meal counting/claiming and others as assigned. Acts as a liaison between the school administration and central office staff. Conducts performance evaluations of Cafeteria Managers based on the schedule established by the Human Capital Division. Assists cafeteria managers in the supervision of cafeteria technicians. Recommends personnel placement and maintains labor records for each assigned school. Analyzes equipment needs and makes recommendations regarding new equipment purchases. Conducts an annual comprehensive site review that evaluates the operation of all Food Services programs operated at the site. Assists in menu planning and testing and evaluation of applicable products. Assists in the development of and training of Food Services employees. Responsible to carry and answer system issued phone before, during and after normal work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational routine. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Food Services. Successful candidates will also demonstrate: 3+ years of progressively increasing successful experience as a Food Services cafeteria manager. Knowledge of basic food preparation principles. Skill in quantity food preparation, service techniques and operation of food service equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture-creator that can inspire and motivate. Competence in using a personal computer including the district’s software programs. Competence in using and demonstrating the use of Food Services software to Food Services employees. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations. Collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results. High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking. Certification as Food Services Cafeteria Manager by the Louisiana Department of Education, Division of Nutrition Support, Child Nutrition Programs. Desirable Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, Institutional Management, Business Administration, Nutrition or Food Technology. Physical Involvement Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
