Staff Nurse - Nursing Float Pool - Adult Behavioral Health

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled staff nurses for their Nursing Float Pool (Tier 1) also known as the Enterprise Staffing Pool for Adult Behavioral Services. These staff nurses will circulate between many units within Adult Behavioral Health Care Services at University of Iowa Health Care University Campus. Key areas of responsibility include applying nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness, assessing patient health care preferences and expectations, collaboratively coordinating the continuum of care across settings, implementing patient care plans according to patient priorities, collaborating and integrating contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans, developing, coordinating, and implementing transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care, implementing nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, and following universal precautions. Anticipated shifts are 4-12 hours in an area, with the ability to float every 4 hours, days, nights, and weekend rotating opportunities, and floating between many units within one hospital/specialty. Percent of time is 50% - 100% - 20 - 40 hours per week. Schedule is night shifts, every third weekend, and rotating holidays. Location is Iowa City, IA. SEIU Pay Plan is PD20. Tier 1 staff nurses receive an additional $5/hr. on all hours worked. Qualifications include an associate's degree in nursing, a diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, professional masters of nursing and healthcare practice (MNHP), MSN/clinical nurse leader, or a master's degree in nursing (MSN, MA) is required. Required qualifications include 1 or more years of current experience with psychiatric and medical experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members, general computer skills including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel, and current license to practice nursing in Iowa by date of hire. Desired qualifications include a baccalaureate degree in nursing, 2 or more years of current experience with adult critical care, CRRT trained/experience is preferred, current or prior agency experience desired, and if a baccalaureate degree in nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
