Senior Software Engineer, Storage Infrastructure

At Cloudflare, the Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ETI) Storage Infrastructure team builds the core storage layer for ETI's stateful services. The role is based at Austin, TX , Seattle, WA , London, UK , or Lisbon, PT . What You’ll Do Build and operate globally distributed storage systems, own code from inception to release, design provisioning systems, model failure domains, benchmark hardware, develop observability, runbooks, and automate operations. Examples of Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, or Python Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts (consistency, consensus, replication, fault tolerance, partition tolerance) Experience with distributed databases and storage systems Experience with infrastructure configuration tooling and infrastructure as code Knowledge of storage fundamentals: block devices, filesystems, SSD characteristics Experience building high‑throughput, low‑latency systems Understanding of network fundamentals for distributed storage Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable operating in fast‑paced environments with tight deadlines and evolving priorities Compensation Estimated annual salary varies by location. New York City, New Jersey, Washington DC, and California (excluding Bay Area): $185,000 – $254,000 Equity Eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
