About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Float Pool Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (if working in CCU or ED) Must-Have: - Must have 5 years of experience - Prefer someone with 1 year of ICU experience or 1 year of ED experience - Ideally an ICU/Stepdown traveler that is comfortable floating to lower acuity units - Must be comfortable taking ratios from 1:2 to 1:10 - Looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable, has multi-functional expertise, and good problem-solving skills Description: - Will be expected to float to multiple units of varying acuity levels. - May float to Emergency Department or Critical Care Unit if within skillset. - Nurse-to-patient ratios vary depending on the unit: - CCU: 1:2-3 - IMC: 1:4-6 - Medical-Surgical Level 7: 1:5-6 - Medical-Surgical Level 8: 1:5-8 - Skilled Care: 1:8-10 - Emergency Department: ratios to be determined after unit discovery - Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, pneumonia, sepsis, diabetes, heart disease, and diverticulitis. - Nurses are required to titrate drips if working in Emergency Department or Critical Care Unit. - Traveler would be expected to manage all critical drips, including Heparin. - Charge nurse may take an assignment as needed. - Patient care technicians are available with ratios of 1:7-15. - Typical job duties include assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugar checks. - Respiratory therapists are assigned to multiple units, but nurses will administer breathing treatments and manage respiratory equipment, including vents, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and Airvo. - Nurses are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. - Monitor techs are available 24/7. - Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips and perform measurements and rhythm identification. - Self-scheduling is allowed with a requirement of three 12-hour shifts per week. - Travelers will submit their preferred schedule to the manager, but finalization will depend on balancing the schedule. - Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday rotation may be necessary. - Assignments will be communicated via text message within two hours prior to shift start. - Travelers must clock in on the assigned unit and complete a daily timesheet. - Dress code is navy blue scrubs. - Cancellation policy applies. - Charting system is Cerner. - BSN is not required. - Trauma level and care setting is acute. - Division is nursing. - Shift notes indicate 12-hour days with weekends as scheduled. - Required certifications are ACLS and BLS.
