This is a technical estimating position , Not an entry-level office, administrative, customer service, retail, warehouse, or food service position.

To be considered, applicants MUST have experience in a technical service, construction, mechanical, electrical, or related trade.

About the Position

Valley Gates is seeking a Technical Service Estimator to prepare repair and installation proposals for commercial and residential automatic gate and access control systems.

This position requires the ability to understand how mechanical and electrical equipment operates, identify the correct replacement components, research manufacturer specifications, verify equipment compatibility, calculate labor requirements, and prepare accurate, professional proposals.

Responsibilities

• Review technician recommendations and service reports.
• Research replacement parts and equipment compatibility.
• Determine proper repair or replacement solutions.
• Verify warranty status and review customer service history.
• Price materials and calculate labor requirements.
• Prepare detailed, professional quotations.
• Communicate with field technicians to clarify repair recommendations.
• Answer customer questions regarding proposals.
• Follow up on estimates to help secure approved work.
• Maintain accurate job documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in a construction, mechanical, electrical, low-voltage, or technical service industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent computer and research skills.
• Professional written and verbal communication.
• Ability to write detailed scopes of work using proper grammar and spelling.
• Ability to interpret technical information and manufacturer documentation.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with automatic gates, access control systems, garage doors, commercial doors, electrical contracting, or HVAC service is highly preferred.
