Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery / Postpartum

Location: New Braunfels, TX

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM

Job Description: The competent nurse practices independently in a clinical setting and demonstrates a comprehensive awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The nurse provides routine and complex care while focusing on long-range goals and plans. Responsibilities include coping with and managing clinical contingencies, making appropriate assignments, and delegating to other care providers.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Adds to the care of patients by addressing complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of treatment.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients and family members or caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current RN License in the state of TX or compact.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current certification in either AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current STABLE certification required.
• Current NRP and ACLS certifications required.
