Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse specializing in Obstetrics and Medical/Surgical care is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in labor & delivery, postpartum, and recovery settings. This role also requires flexibility to float to the medical-surgical floor as needed. The nurse will perform patient assessments, administer medications, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care. Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care in labor & delivery, postpartum, and recovery units.
- Float to the medical-surgical floor when obstetric patients are not present.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor patient status continuously.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding care, procedures, and recovery.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Driver's license, car insurance, and reliable automobile for field work if required.
- Experience in Obstetrics, Medical/Surgical nursing, or related specialties.
- Prior experience floating between multiple nursing units.
- Advanced certifications related to obstetrics or medical-surgical nursing.
- Must be able to float between obstetrics and medical-surgical floors as patient census dictates.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills essential for interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Shift assignments may vary based on patient census and unit needs.
- Work schedule includes labor & delivery, postpartum, recovery, and medical-surgical shifts as required.
