PRN Nurse Practitioner

Description of Responsibilities The Family Nurse Practitioner blends general clinical duties with specialized neurological care, offering a unique opportunity to work closely with patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive histories and physical exams, focusing on identifying neurological symptoms such as tremors, seizures, migraines, or cognitive decline. Utilize diagnostic tools to support clinical assessments. Collaborate with neurologists to develop individualized care plans for conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological disorders. Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed, manage medications, and coordinate referrals for therapies. Assist in or perform procedures such as botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders or chronic migraines, under supervision as required. Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families about neurological diagnoses, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications. Help patients understand complex conditions like dementia or stroke recovery. Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care, coordinating follow‑ups, specialist referrals, and continuity of care for chronic neurological conditions. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with clinic protocols, HIPAA regulations, and quality assurance standards. Stay current with advances in neurology through continuing education, conferences, and participation in clinical research or specialty clinics such as headache or movement disorder clinics. Report to the partners or their designee in a prompt and efficient manner, including participation in routine management meetings, training oversight, and coordination with other departments or personnel. Undertake other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the partners or their designee. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Current Virginia License National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC certification) BLS and ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain) Neurology or other specialty experience preferred Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, walk and sit as well as talk and hear Good hand‑eye coordination with the ability to lift up to at least 25 pounds #J-18808-Ljbffr
