The Department's Office of Legal Affairs and Regulations is seeking an Attorney Supervisor to join our team in downtown Sacramento. We are a high performing, collegial team working in collaboration with all Department programs to provide timely, thorough, balanced, and accurate counsel, information, and representation to model and empower bold decision-making to advance employment, independence, and equality for all Californians with disabilities. Under the general direction of the Chief Counsel, the Attorney Supervisor provides legal advice to Department management in a variety of subject areas and functions including: interpretation of Federal and State laws and regulations, State Civil Service laws, California Public Records Act, Information Practices Act, vocational rehabilitation, contracts, civil rights. This position also serves as part of the DOR management team and supports the Chief Counsel in coordinating and directing the work of legal staff. This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.This recruitment has been posted for more vacancies than currently exist as it may be used to fill additional identical vacancies which occur within 180 days of the closing date of this bulletin.

The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

- Describe your experience working with community and advocacy groups representing historically marginalized communities, particularly any experience related to the disability community.
