This role leads electrical design efforts and project delivery for moderate to complex building projects, with opportunities to contribute through either a Technical Path or a Project Management Path. You will work with engineers, consultants, clients, and cross-functional teams to support project goals, budgets, mentoring, and client expectations. The work supports healthcare and MEP markets, including complex, technology-rich healthcare and institutional environments, while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030. At a Glance Location: Kansas City, MO Discipline: Electrical Markets: Healthcare; MEP Ownership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Travel: Up to 20% Work Schedule: Full-time hybrid Sponsorship: Not available What You'll Do Technical Path Lead electrical-system analysis and design efforts, using engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations that meet code requirements and IMEG standards. Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analysis and technical reports. Work with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships. Conduct in-process reviews of electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence. Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client requirements. Train, mentor, and motivate staff. Provide technical assistance to resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff. Stay current on electrical-engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts. Prioritize safety and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and participate in project interviews and presentations. Project Management Path Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying size and complexity. Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposals, and contract reviews. Create project schedules with milestone and deadline targets. Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients. Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages monthly. Ensure designs meet owner, IMEG, and code requirements, milestone deliverables are achieved, quality-control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner. Coordinate design staff and project scheduling through all design and construction phases, and schedule and lead progress meetings with documentation. Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested. Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns, and manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals. Technical Path Required Skills And Abilities Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems Project Management Path Required Skills And Abilities Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path Required For Both Paths Education and Experience Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required Professional Engineer (PE) License required 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry Skills And Abilities Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise Ability to sell work and develop client relationships Strong training and mentoring skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays About The Team Service mix is strongly healthcare-oriented, with meaningful education, civic, and cultural work.
