Job Summary Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed‑wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms. This position reports to the VP/GM of Phoenix and works with all levels of employees throughout the organization. It is responsible for direct or indirect supervision of up to approximately 15 employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to manufacturing and quality to achieve division objectives. Ensure that all manufacturing special processes and tooling conform to customer, organizational, and governmental standards. Direct the development of new manufacturing processes and the revision of existing processes to facilitate the improved manufacturing of parts. Develop, coach and mentor a team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence. Manage software control. Provide evaluation and disposition of discrepant material. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct the work of up to 15 employees. Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing and typing. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting and bending. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Occasional exposure to moderate noise. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent leadership and management abilities. Strong problem‑solving skills. Strong computer skills are required. Microsoft Office products used on a daily basis. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality System, and SPC tools. Qualifications Education: Minimum of a four‑year technical degree such as a BSIE or BSME or equivalent experience. Experience: 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, business development, program management, production control, and finance is desired. Experience in the aerospace industry is ideal, preferably with most of the experience in a tight tolerance aerospace manufacturing machine shop with gears as its core competency. #J-18808-Ljbffr
