Head Custodian (240 days/ 8 hours per day)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Perform a variety of custodial duties as required including cleaning floors, walls, fixtures, whiteboards, carpets and restrooms according to established methods and procedures.
- Perform minor, non-technical repairs as needed; prepare work orders for emergency maintenance; report need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority.
- Lock and unlock doors and maintain security of school facility.
- Pick up paper and debris and sweep and clean walkways and entrances.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor cleaning and polishing machines.
- Inspect assigned areas for safety hazards and compliance with sanitation standards; report safety, sanitation and fire hazards to appropriate authority.
- Must be able to perform heavy physical labor.
- Properly estimate quantity and types of supplies and equipment needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and working condition.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
- Work independently with little direction
- Meet schedules and time lines.
- Perform special custodial work upon request of faculty.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED or enrolled and showing progress in GED program.
- Have the ability to develop a positive relationship with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Other duties assigned by the principal.
- Must successfully complete all required forms and applications for employment.
- Render health services as necessary after appropriate training.
