Job Location: BHI Bristol Hospital Main Campus - Bristol, CT 06010 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 2 Year Degree Job Shift: Any Sign On Bonus: $5,000 Overview The Graduate Nurse role is part of Bristol Hospital’s Nurse Residency program, designed to provide mentorship, training, and professional development during the first year of practice. Nurse Residency Program • One‑to‑one preceptor for the first twelve weeks.

• Monthly seminars for 12 months focused on nursing science, critical thinking, and evidence‑based practice.
• Emphasis on professionalism, leadership, patient‑centered care, outcomes, organizational culture, and self‑care.

Responsibilities Deliver coordinated nursing care for an assigned patient group, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and transition of care. Perform routine nursing care tasks with professional judgment and behavior. Supervise unlicensed personnel and coordinate patient care activities. Learn and apply telemetry skills for specific patient populations. Participate in shared governance committees to support nursing structure. Work collaboratively with the nursing team to identify and implement best practices and research. Develop and present evidence‑based outcomes at year‑end reviews. Qualifications BSN preferred; Associate’s Degree with enrollment in a bachelor’s program acceptable. Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Connecticut. Certification from a professional nursing body preferred. NCLEX pass required for official hire. Licensure and Certification Requirements State of Connecticut RN license. Professional nursing certification preferred. Educational and Training Requirements General orientation at time of hire. Fire, safety, and infection control training annually. Health Care Provider CPR (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer CPR (American Red Cross) or equivalent. Complete all education and HRD department training programs. Unit‑based competency package and specific items as required. Special Requirements Successful completion of the unit competency package. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Physical Requirements Physical agility with repetitive activities such as walking, running, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, standing, sitting, and twisting. Lifting greater than 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work day. Vision acuity correctable to normal. Hearing acuity correctable to normal. Acute sense of smell for normal perception. Ability to verbalize so that the average person can comprehend. Work Environment Regular exposure to patient elements and occasional stress.
