Details Acute Leukemia and Hematology inpatient unit Primarily cares for newly diagnosed adult and geriatric acute leukemia patients High volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5 Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30) based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs Epic charting system used Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS and ACLS certifications required ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required NIHSS certification preferred Minimum 2 years overall nursing experience required Minimum 1 year inpatient hematology-oncology experience required, current within the last 12 months MS/Oncology and telemetry experience required Prior travel nursing experience preferred, from an inpatient unit Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Skills required: IV therapy/infusions, port accessing and management, blood and blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, dysrhythmia interpretation, and chemotherapy administration and monitoring Experience with oncologic emergencies, tumor lysis syndrome, and sepsis recognition required Experience caring for patients with leukemia, blood dyscrasias, and lymphoma required Multiple myeloma patient care experience preferred Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director-level supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention Utilizes Rapid Response Teams as needed Responsible for feeding tube care and management First-time travelers will not be considered for this role Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility Current employees of this health system are ineligible for travel positions at any location within the system Local candidates accepted at the same rate Required time off must be submitted and built into the contract prior to consideration, limited to 7 days or less Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract, including in-state travel to a fingerprinting location or completion of a mailed fingerprinting packet if located far from Ohio American Traveler Job ID P-719957.
