Senior Architect - Mission Critical

Our collaborative culture and our innovative, sustainable approach to projects help us create buildings that matter to our world. Together, we are enhancing the quality of life globally through design.Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityThe Senior Architect will apply superior client service skills, and project management best practices, to deliver Mission Critical (primarily data center) projects that meet project requirements, exceed client expectations, and meet project financial and other objectives. Working within our thriving buildings practice, you will contribute to project delivery standards and work processes, provide quality control, workload forecasting, financial performance accountability, and collaboration with other disciplines.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teamsDevelop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful executionWork collaboratively with project leaders, design partners, peers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success metrics, and develop innovative and practical solutions, and meet the project's conditions of satisfaction.Lead cross-functional teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to achieve project milestones.Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges proactivelyConduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholdersMentor junior staff and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional developmentDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes.Engage with external partners, including vendors and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and integration of project design.Establish relationships with clients, agencies, providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure design alignment with project objectives.Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project requirements are met.Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess project variables and develop reliable design solutions independently.Prepare detailed design documents, specifications, and reports.Ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.Participate in/lead project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.Successfully manage projects and tasks of a scope, complexity, and revenue budget appropriate to experience.Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary, and client service objectives for each project.Manages and plans the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for projects.Effectively delegate work to production support staff.Nurtures existing client relationships and proactively pursues opportunities for new business.Develop project proposals and participate in project pursuits.Develop and deliver project-related client presentations.Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training.Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within the A& E industry, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate it into existing processes and standards.Maintain and update specification documents, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other technical leaders in Stantec.Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, and partner firms in the local and regional A/E industry.Your Capabilities knowledge of technical issues supporting delivered design services.Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to develop concepts and ideas and evolve them into project deliverables.Familiarity with and ability to produce project-related documents and documentation standards required of a Project leader.Outstanding consulting skills, with the ability to present a credible, engaging image in keeping with Stantec’s high service standards.Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects while maintaining the process-driven requirements of the project.Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge and experience to identify and manage items of risk that may occur on projects.Knowledge and experience to identify and manage potential unanticipated scope.Functional knowledge of BIM software RevitStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related fieldMinimum 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year.
