Payroll Specialist

OPTI STAFFING GROUP IS HIRING! Opening: Payroll Specialist City: Clackamas, OR Pay: $31–$36/hr Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time | On-Site WHO THEY ARE: Our client is a well-established, family-owned commercial flooring contractor that has been serving Oregon and Washington since the late 1970s. Their work can be found throughout schools, hospitals, offices, gymnasiums, theaters, and other commercial spaces. This is a smaller, close-knit office environment where you’ll work directly with the HR and Payroll Manager and ownership. This position plays an important role in keeping payroll accurate, compliant, and on schedule while also supporting day-to-day HR functions. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Process weekly, monthly, and off-cycle payroll for field and office employees across Oregon, Washington, and California Import and audit timekeeping data, verifying job codes, classifications, and hours before payroll is processed Prepare weekly certified payroll reports for public works projects Complete WH-347 reporting and submit certified payroll through LCPtracker and other required systems Handle certified payroll reporting through Oregon BOLI, Washington L&I, and California DIR when required Apply appropriate prevailing wage rates, classifications, fringe benefits, and applicable differentials Reconcile payroll against the general ledger and job costs and research discrepancies Assist with multi-state payroll tax filings and deposits Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, deductions, garnishments, and benefits elections Support payroll tax and prevailing wage audits Track certified payroll and compliance documentation from subcontractors Assist with onboarding paperwork, I-9 verification, benefits enrollment, and employment verifications Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, hours worked, and benefits Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and compensation information WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU: $31–$36 per hour Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Paid holidays and vacation time Long-term incentive plan Stable, long-standing family-owned company Opportunity to expand your experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll Direct exposure to the HR and Payroll Manager and company ownership WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE: Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience Experience working in a deadline-driven payroll environment Experience using an ERP or payroll system Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables Experience with Outlook and Adobe Acrobat Accurate data entry and 10-key skills Strong attention to detail and ability to identify payroll discrepancies Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with employees regarding time worked and payroll questions Ability to work independently while contributing to a small team PREFERRED: Certified payroll or prevailing wage experience Davis-Bacon or state prevailing wage experience Experience with LCPtracker, Oregon BOLI, Washington L&I, or California DIR reporting Multi-state payroll experience, particularly Oregon, Washington, and California Acumatica or similar construction ERP experience, such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, or Foundation Construction or multi-state hourly workforce experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
