Infectious Disease Officer

As an Infectious Disease Officer within Army Medicine, your role will involve investigating the origins, impacts, and trends of infectious diseases, including threats from biological warfare. Through collaborative research, you will work alongside other healthcare professionals to identify, diagnose, treat, and manage the spread of infectious diseases in both military settings and the communities you serve.
Your involvement may extend to humanitarian missions aimed at combating the spread of infectious diseases and discovering innovative prevention strategies. If you opt for service in the Army Reserve, you will have the opportunity to serve your country when needed while continuing to support your local community.

Eligibility Criteria:
- A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. institution
- Foreign graduates may apply with a permanent certificate from the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates
- A current, valid, and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States, District of Columbia, or U.S. territories
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Ability to meet the requirements for appointment as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve
- Must be a permanent resident of the United States
