Job Description This role defines and leads the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. It involves delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, and providing technical thought leadership across multiple software implementations while applying depth in technical competencies. The position is accountable for end‑to‑end solution design and delivery. Job Profile Summary Senior Engineer – Liquidity and Matching Engines for Equities Cash Technology (global). This strategic role upgrades execution capabilities and builds a world‑class platform. The candidate should have practical experience in Electronic Trading of Equities in Java, a passion for modern software architecture, and the ability to collaborate with senior leadership and cross‑functional partners. Responsibilities Ensure the design and engineering approach for complex features aligns with the broader portfolio solution. Define the technology tool stack and evaluate new testing tools, frameworks, and practices. Enable team(s) with CI/CD capabilities and engage technical stakeholders for pipeline efficiency. Guide and influence teams on design and best practices for high‑code performance. Provide end‑to‑end delivery of complex features, including automation, across single or multiple teams at the program level. Conduct research, design prototyping, and exploration of new toolsets for release management, CI/CD, and features. Work with stakeholders to establish high‑level solution needs and collaborate with architects on technical requirements. Develop technology for Liquidity and Matching Engines, creating high‑performance Java components for internal and external clients. Apply a strong business‑centric mindset to drive optimal business outcomes. Liaise with the Equity LOB to support multiple workflows across lines of business. Analyze business requirements, form architectural designs, oversee cross‑team development and testing, and manage production issues. Collaborate closely with the Site Reliability Engineering group for reliability and scalability. Develop roadmaps for continuous platform improvement. Deliver core framework‑level changes. Interact with quantitative trading groups to capture core requirements. Engage in all development lifecycle stages: requirements, code, unit tests, patch reviews, and second‑level support. Required Qualifications Extensive experience in Java development on Linux. Direct exposure to building Electronic Trading applications. Automation‑first mindset across the development lifecycle, especially shift‑left testing. In‑depth understanding of core Java APIs (collections, concurrency, NIO). Experience with multithreaded systems, Java garbage collector, and low‑latency I/O. Ability to architect resilient, instrumented, distributed systems with world‑class reliability. Familiarity with Agile development and best practices. Enthusiastic, strong‑minded, collaborative culture with project teams. Strong communication skills with technical and non‑technical partners. Experience with design patterns such as Observer, Factory, Singleton. Competence in AI‑driven, test‑focused development. Desired Qualifications Deep knowledge of financial asset classes, especially Equities and algorithmic trading. Exposure to sequencing architectures in financial services. Experience architecting applications for cloud or containerised environments.
