Salary: $37,000–$70,000 annually, commensurate with experience (see below)

Job Overview
Primrose School of Aliana is seeking an experienced and operationally strong Director of Operations to join our School Leadership Team.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced childcare Director who already understands what it takes to successfully operate a licensed childcare center . The Director of Operations will work closely with the Director, Education Coach, and Ownership Team, with primary responsibility for school operations, Texas Child Care Licensing compliance, staffing, employee relations, health and safety, facilities, and administrative execution .

This is not an entry-level leadership position . We are looking for a hands-on leader who identifies problems early, takes ownership, follows through without needing constant direction, professionally holds employees accountable, and maintains a visible leadership presence throughout the school.

For a high-performing leader, this position may provide opportunities for expanded leadership responsibility as the school continues to grow .

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Licensing

• Oversee daily school operations and maintain compliance with Texas Minimum Standards, Primrose standards, and health and safety requirements.
• Keep the school licensing-ready and inspection-ready every day.
• Conduct routine classroom, ratio, supervision, safety, facility, and compliance checks.
• Maintain required licensing records, staff documentation, drills, incidents, inspections, certifications, and compliance calendars.
• Work with licensing representatives, inspectors, vendors, and contractors.
• Identify operational or compliance concerns and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Staffing & Employee Relations

• Manage daily staffing, classroom coverage, ratios, schedules, breaks, attendance, punctuality, and call-outs.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and employee training.
• Maintain employee files, training records, certifications, and required documentation.
• Address employee performance, attendance, conduct, and accountability concerns in partnership with the Director and Ownership.
• Support coaching, counseling, corrective action, and performance management.
• Sustain a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, reliability, and strong communication.

Health, Safety & Facilities

• Ensure the school remains safe, clean, organized, functional, and inspection-ready.
• Conduct routine facility and safety walkthroughs and follow through on identified issues.
• Coordinate maintenance, repairs, vendors, inspections, and operational supplies.
• Ensure health, sanitation, supervision, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures are consistently followed.

Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate operational records, reports, calendars, checklists, and deadlines.
• Support scheduling, payroll/timekeeping review, purchasing, inventory, and expense documentation.
• Improve procedures and workflows to strengthen operational consistency and efficiency.
• Maintain a visible leadership presence and serve as a resource for teachers and staff.
• Support family concerns, tours, enrollment, school events, and other leadership responsibilities as needed.
• Provide classroom support when necessary to maintain ratios and continuity of care.
• Keep the Director and Ownership informed of significant staffing, compliance, safety, employee, and operational concerns.

What Success Looks Like
The successful Director of Operations will ensure that the school is licensing-ready every day , staffing and ratios are proactively managed, employee issues are addressed promptly, required records and certifications remain current, operational commitments receive consistent follow-through, and the facility remains safe and professional. 
Most importantly, we are seeking someone who sees what needs to be done, takes ownership, follows through, and ensures the issue is actually resolved.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of successful Director-level experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool (REQUIRED).
• Prior experience as a Center Director/School Director strongly preferred and will receive priority consideration.
• Director-level experience in a franchise or multi-site childcare organization strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards .
• Current Texas Child Care Director Credential and ability to meet applicable Director qualification requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with staffing, ratios, scheduling, employee relations, performance management, licensing compliance, and daily center operations.
• Experience preparing for and successfully navigating licensing/regulatory inspections.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through skills.
• Comfortable holding employees accountable and having difficult but professional conversations.
• Proficient with childcare management technology, Microsoft Office, email, and scheduling/timekeeping systems.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Must meet applicable Texas childcare background requirements and be willing to support classrooms when operationally necessary.

The Ideal Candidate
You are experienced, proactive, highly organized, operationally minded, firm but approachable, hands-on, and calm under pressure . You can build strong relationships while maintaining accountability and do not need constant direction to identify and resolve operational issues.

Qualifications

• $37,000–$70,000 annually.
• Compensation will be based on directly relevant Director-level experience, credentials, Texas licensing expertise, prior leadership scope, franchise/multi-site experience, and demonstrated operational capability.
• The upper end of the range is reserved for highly experienced candidates with substantial, directly relevant childcare Director experience and demonstrated success leading center operations. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not automatically qualify a candidate for the top of the range.

Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person leadership position and is not an office-only role. Schedule flexibility is required, including occasional early mornings, evenings, Saturdays, school events, or training days.
