Dietary Cook

Responsibilities Prepares and cooks meals for residents and staff following the menu created by dieticians. Gathers all food needed for mealtime and reports any shortages to the Food Service Director. Plates all food items for residents and staff. Operates various kitchen equipment (mixer, meat slicer, oven, steamer, etc.) in preparation for the meal. Serves meals safely and follows all requirements. Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals. Accurately follows diet cards when serving residents. Takes and documents food temperatures. Cleans kitchen and all kitchen equipment. Assists in putting away dietary stock and rotating dietary supplies. Keeps all coolers clean and organized, checking expiration dates. Follows portion control guidelines. Maintains confidentiality of all resident, staff, and organization information. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three months of related experience and/or training may also qualify.
