Traveling Field Service Technician - Decanter Centrifuges

Job Description Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Traveling Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and rebuild of industrial decanter centrifuges at customer sites across the United States. This role requires extensive travel and hands-on mechanical expertise in rotating equipment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, mechanically strong, and comfortable working independently in demanding field environments such as mining, wastewater, food processing, and industrial facilities. Key Responsibilities - Perform installation and commissioning of decanter centrifuges and associated systems - Conduct onsite rebuilds, including complete tear-down, inspection, and reassembly - Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and process-related issues - Perform preventative and corrective maintenance - Interpret technical drawings and schematics - Ensure proper alignment, tolerances, and balancing - Provide customer support and training - Document service work and maintain detailed reports - Maintain tools and equipment - Follow all safety protocols - One weekend per month on call - Hauling centrifuges Travel Requirements - Travel required 75-90% - Typical rotation: 3-4 weeks on the road - Work across the U.S. - Ability to respond to urgent service calls Qualifications Required: - 3+ years experience in rotating equipment or industrial maintenance but not required - Strong mechanical aptitude - Experience with heavy equipment rebuilds - Ability to read technical drawings - Valid driver's license - CDL Required after 3 months of employment Preferred: - Experience with decanter centrifuges - Industry experience (mining, wastewater, oil & gas, food processing) - Welding or machining experience - Electrical troubleshooting experience - Previous service tech work experience Skills & Competencies - Strong troubleshooting ability - Independent and accountable - Strong communication skills - Ability to work long field hours - Attention to detail and safety focus Work Environment - Industrial job sites - Exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions - Physically demanding work Compensation & Benefits - Competitive pay (hourly + overtime) - Company credit card - 3500 truck for work and personal - Company-paid travel - Health, dental, vision insurance - 401(k) with match - PTO and holidays - Tools and PPE provided Why Join Us Join a team specializing in high-performance centrifuge systems and gain valuable field experience while working on complex equipment across multiple industries.
