Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist Job Details: 13-week assignment working 48 hours per week Provide quality patient care including intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans with minimal supervision Explain purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices Perform chest physiotherapy using various equipment to promote secretion clearance Perform suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy Conduct routine review of patient chest X-rays to determine need for further evaluation Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition Perform pulmonary function studies including NIF, VC, and similar assessments Assist with respiratory care procedures including Bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, and Chest Tube placement Perform chest drainage via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations Perform arterial punctures and monitor, record, and report ventilation efficiency results Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation on various types of equipment Assist in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed Document all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the efficiency of therapy administered Report all necessary information during walking rounds for shift-to-shift handoff communication Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry, verification, and correction of errors Facility: This specialty hospital focuses on critical illness and rehabilitation, providing long-term acute care services to patients with complex medical needs.
