Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current RN license Certifications: Relevant certifications preferred Must-Have: Flexibility with shifts and hours Description: Provides professional nursing care to inmates or consumers housed in a state-owned or operated facility or institution. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans. Monitors patients on a timely basis, providing immediate medical attention in emergencies. Administers first aid and arranges transportation to a hospital emergency room when necessary. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff if assigned. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains or orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden inmates, making rounds and evaluating care needed and rendered. Develops care plans and teaches health care principles. Administers medications, including narcotics, and provides direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, and CPR. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams and directs healthcare staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of higher-level nursing staff. Assists physicians in providing diagnostic health evaluations. Performs clerical tasks, including charting medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports and documents necessary information. Orders supplies and equipment, maintaining an exact inventory of controlled drugs and equipment. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison with others in the organization. Conducts and/or attends meetings and serves as an instructor or team leader when needed.
