Power Plant Operator (Onsite) – 3rd shift – East Hartford, CT What You Will Do Operate, maintain and repair powerhouse and auxiliary generation and distribution equipment, including complex boilers, compressors and air machinery used throughout the plant. Perform installation, overhaul and preventive maintenance on equipment and systems that generate, transfer and supply energy and utilities for plant operations. Plan and perform work that resolves operating and distribution problems, coordinating with related systems as needed. Assist others in system operation, care and use of equipment, and support special project groups. Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description, working with other trades on joint projects. Qualifications You Must Have High school diploma or GED. U.S. citizenship (required). At least 5 years of trades training and boiler operation experience. Comprehensive knowledge of steam generation, cooling towers, gas compression, water treatment, auxiliary distribution systems, and associated control systems. Strong understanding of combustion principles, boiler maintenance, repair, and safe operating procedures. Qualifications We Prefer Knowledge of jet turbine (GG8) operation and maintenance. Possession or ability to obtain within 45 days a Connecticut State Operating Engineer (OE‑2) license. Willingness to train for and maintain additional required licenses, operator permits or certifications.
